October is "Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog" Month!

What can an adopted dog bring to your life? There are as many responses to that question as there are dogs in the world! That's why during the October, we are focusing on adoption to celebrate and encourage people to adopt a shelter dog and experience the joy of finding their own answers!
Contrary to the myth that animal shelters are filled with "bad" pets, most shelter and rescue dogs are wonderful companions who drew the short straw when it came to getting a loving and responsible owner. Many shelter adopters even say that shelter pets know their owners have saved them and therefore have a special bond with their new parents.

"Sally"(#602)~ a female/Retriever Mix, approx. 5 yrs old/45 lbs. is REALLY GREAT on a leash! She is SUPER SWEET, HAPPY and appears to be housebroken. She gets so excited to meet everyone, but quickly calms down when you visit with her!!

Sally is interested & available in finding a great forever person of her own. Could it be you? ♥♥♥♥

For more information about adopting Sally call the Licking County Animal Shelter at (740) 349-6562, or visit 544 Dog Leg Road, Heath.

Adoption fees include current vaccines/preventatives and spay/neuter.

Shelter hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Love your dog? Be sure to license them. Guaranteed 'free ride home' when they are wearing their 2014 Licking County license! Please be sure your dog is wearing their NEW 2014 Licking County Dog License. The fastest way to a happy reunion when your pet is lost. Cost of finding your lost pet? Priceless.

Unfortunately, millions of unwanted puppies and kittens have to be euthanized each year in this country. Because of the tragedy of pet overpopulation, we require all of our adopted pets to be spayed or neutered.

Next door to our shelter is the Humane Society's Adoption Center (740-323-2100) which also has many animals that are in need of a good home. Please stop at both of our shelters if you wish to adopt a companion animal. If you don't see a pet fitting your needs, please check back. We have new animals coming in all of the time.
