Community Emergency Response Team
Disasters can strike anywhere,
anytime, anyone.

ARE YOU PREPARED?

In 95% of all emergencies, the victim or bystander provides the first immediate assistance on the scene. Would you know what to do?

Now there is a program that teaches you how to prepare and respond properly during a disaster or emergency situation.

CERT is a program that prepares you, your family and your neighbors, in the event of a disaster. During an incident, emergency personnel may not be able to reach you right away. By getting trained in CERT, you will have the skills to help emergency responders save lives and protect property. It can equip you to “Hold the fort until reinforcements arrive”.

Some folks desire the training for personal use. Others take it a step further and become a CERT Volunteer. They become a member of a CERT (Community Emergency Response TEAM). As a member of CERT, you can be activated to respond to disasters, participate in drills and exercises, and take additional training. CERT Volunteers are known and trusted resources to emergency responders and their communities.

Participants will learn how to:
  • Identify and anticipate hazards
  • Reduce fire hazards in the home and workplace
  • Extinguish small fires
  • Apply basic medical techniques
  • Conduct light search and rescue
  • Help reduce survivor stress
Training is 20 hours of some classroom and lots of hands-on instruction. Classes are being scheduled for both adults and older teenagers (14-18 year olds, with parental permission). The training is free and is held locally. There are generally 8 sessions of 2 ½ hours each.

Once certified with CERT, there are monthly trainings available to maintain your skills.
