Licking County Transit Services

The Licking County Transit Services (LCT) are provided throughout Licking County for those living outside the cities of Newark and Heath. The service is a demand responsive public transportation system. LCT provides origin-to-destination transportation services available upon request. No door through door services are provided due to liability constraints. All rides are provided on a shared ride basis. Shared ride means that other passengers may be traveling with you and other pick-ups or drop-offs may occur along the way to your destination. Because of the nature of our service, each day of service is different; drivers may have a different area of the County and different clients to pickup and drop off at their destinations. LCT does not provide “taxi” service.

Services are provided by First Transit under contract. Callers can make transportation arrangements up to 10 days in advance but must do so at least one (1) weekday in advance. If time permits, trips can be scheduled on demand, but the cost of the trip will be higher.

Most of the LCT vehicles are wheelchair lift equipped and fully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as required by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). Trip denials will be documented to determine if additional transportation services are warranted.

Days and Hours of Service

Transportation services are offered Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Transportation is not available on major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day).
