Licking County Retention & Expansion Task Force
Now more than ever, business retention and expansion in our local communities is critical to job
growth. Studies show that in the average community, 76 percent of new jobs are not created by new
businesses, but by existing employers.
In an effort to help foster economic growth in Licking County, a diverse group of county and local officials
has formed the Licking County Retention and Expansion Task Force. This group of business and development
professionals, county commissioners and village administrators offer a breadth of experience in economic
development and represent several prominent organizations.
Using the Synchronist Business Information Systems, the Retention and Expansion Task Force interviews executives
from various companies throughout the county, talking directly to manufacturing and warehouse industries in
order to determine company and community strengths and weaknesses. The Task Force inputs the information
obtained through interviews into the Synchronist System to generate company reports. These reports allow
members to accurately gauge the health of local businesses and more effectively allocate county resources.

Company and Community Benefits
By sharing information with the Retention and Expansion Task Force, company executives can gain valuable insight into
the well being of the business, in addition to developing beneficial networking contacts for the future. Once an interview
is complete, Task Force members can examine company issues through the data obtained during the interview process and work
together to develop effective solutions. This in turn can help employers retain jobs, expand their business and improve
the overall health of their company, allowing them to maintain their valuable status in the community.
