Series 3: Leases, Assignment of Leases, & Release of Leases. 1839-1919. .33 cubic feet.
Series Scope and Content:
This record series contains various types of Leases, Assignment of Leases, and Release of Leases recorded in the county dating from 1839-1919. A lease allows an interested person or party to rent a piece of property for the use of it’s structures, machinery, or natural resources. Most of the Lease Assignments and Releases were done on the margin of the original Lease, resulting in what is called a Marginal Assignment or a Marginal Release. A marginal assignment or marginal release is a new filing created by the lease owner or financial interest holder to assign the lease to a new party or to release the document. Numerous types of leases in the collection include oil and gas leases, business leases, and property leases.
Arrangement: Alphabetical by property owner.

Leases contain lessee and lessor’s names, legal description, date lease granted, and the termination date of the lease. Special terms or restrictions may also appear on some records.
