| Since September 2009, our volunteers have become a valuable asset to our department. Not only have they accomplished projects that benefit genealogists and other researchers, they remind us about the importance of Licking County history to residents. |
| |
| Volunteering provides opportunities to: |
- Work on projects which will shape your knowledge of local history and genealogy
- Complete projects which reflect your interests and skills
- Learn how records centers and archives operate
- Learn about the preservation of records
- Gain fulfilling experiences with staff and other volunteers
|
| |
| Volunteers |
- Work an average of four hours on a set schedule (hours per week are flexible)
- Are provided with an informal tour of the department and discuss projects/procedures to determine if working is still an interest to prospective volunteers
|
| |
| Examples of completed projects by volunteers include: |
- County Infirmary Cemetery Burial Index
- Loose Paper Deed Indexing, Record Cleaning, and Processing (in progress)
|
To begin exploring volunteering opportunities, please contact Volunteer Coordinator & Records Clerk, Bill Markley, at 670-5121 or archives@lcounty.com. |

| Internships |
The department also accepts unpaid college interns to perform archival/records management work in conjunction with their course of study. Interns may shape their work experience with the department by performing projects/duties related to their specific research interest(s) if the prospect is present in our program. Interns will also receive one-on-one time with the department head and staff members and gain an understanding of daily department operations.
Please contact Records/Archives Coordinator, Katy Klettlinger, to schedule an appointment to discuss intern opportunities at 670-5122 or kklettlinger@lcounty.com. Providing an updated resume is suggested.
