Position Description:
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Promotes and maintains positive and effective working relationships and promotes good public relationships as a representative of Licking County Government.
  • Oversees operations of reference services: makes recommendations for improving services to public, and manages all records requests.
  • Performs cleaning and rehousing procedures such as document cleaning, polyester film encapsulation, creating phase boxes, and reboxing for permanent records.
  • Monitors physical controls within the Records & Archives Department to ensure a suitable environment for records.
  • Sorts, separates, and arranges records to create inventory lists, compiles archival finding aids, catalogs holdings, and create research guides and other records access tools.
  • Maintains and verifies accuracy of various departmental records management systems and databases. Ensures confidentiality of records and files.
  • Oversees records retrieval and delivery services to county departments.
  • Provides assistance to manager in the development and supervision of Records and Archives Department operations and reference service procedures: procedures manual, working forms, and databases. Oversees volunteers with projects assigned by the Manager.
  • Leads classes and presentations to County employees and the public regarding the records program as assigned by the Manager.
  • Coordinates outreach efforts to local schools and historic organizations to promote use of historic county records as primary resources.
  • Organizes records of county government historical events for display to the public.
  • Provides coverage to Senior Imaging Technician as necessary.
  • Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures.
  • Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; may be required to attend seminars/training.
Brief Description:

Provides reference service to County employees, staff, and the public by performing general preservation procedures for permanent records, assisting in the development and maintenance of the department’s storage and access operations.

Job Prerequisites:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and one (1) to two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other related software. Ability to work independently. Effective written and oral communication skills. Valid Driver’s License.
