Employment availability

The Licking County Sheriff’s Office continuously accepts applications for employment for the following classifications:

Deputy Sheriff
Reserve Deputy Sheriff
Dispatcher
Corrections Officer
Nurse (LPN or RN)
Licensed Social Worker
Maintenance
Cook
Clerk

Although there may not be current vacancies, applications are accepted in order to build eligibility lists for the above employment opportunities.

Employment Process:

All sworn and non-sworn candidates must meet agency minimum qualifications to be eligible to participate in the hiring process. These minimum qualifications are:

1. 21 years of age at time of application
2. United States Citizen
3. Valid Driver's License
4. High School Diploma or Equivalency

Upon receipt of your application, the applicant will be subject to the following stages: Failing to pass any of these stages will end the application process.

1. A receipt email will be sent verifying receipt of the application.
2. The application will be forwarded to the division that the applicant is applying for.
3. If the position is for a sworn or Corrections Officer position, the applicant will be given a date and scheduled for a physical agility test, with a pass/fail result.
4. The applicant will be scheduled for a panel interview.
5. The applicant will undergo a background investigation.
6. The applicant will voluntarily submit to a truth verification instrument and interview.
7. The applicant will be scheduled for a Psychological examination.
8. The applicant will be scheduled for a physical examination and drug screening test.
9. The applicant will be subject to a final interview.

Please note that the process may very slightly depending on the position being applied for, as the Licking County Sheriff’s Office hires both sworn and non-sworn employees in a variety of job functions. However, the selection process is identical for sworn full-time Deputy positions and sworn Reserve Deputy positions.
